[KB6971] Allow your ESET product access to user protected data on macOS Mojave and Catalina

Issue

If you have macOS Big Sur visit the following article: Allow full disc access for your ESET product for Mac 6.10 and later.

 

You received the Your computer is not fully​ protected warning from your ESET product.

ESET Security product version 6.6

If you are using version 6.6 of an ESET Security product, you will not receive the Your computer is partially protected warning from your ESET product. However, if your macOS is version 10.14 Mojave or 10.15 Catalina then you need to manually allow ESET access to the application data.

 

Details

ESET Security products require access to macOS user protected data in order to function properly. Users with macOS 10.14 Mojave or 10.15 Catalina need to manually allow ESET access to the user protected data.

Solution

 
  1. Click Open System Preferences.

  1. Double-click Security & Privacy.

  2. Click Privacy, select Full Disk Access and then click the lock icon.

  1. Type in your User Name and Password, then click Unlock.

  1. Click the + icon and select your ESET application, or drag and drop the ESET application icon into the Allow list.

  1. Your computer will display a notification. Click Later. Do not restart your computer in this step.

  1. Restart your ESET product manually or restart your computer.
