[KB7734] Enable and configure Secure Browser in ESET Endpoint Security for Windows (9.x–10.x)

Issue

Solution

Secure Browser is an additional layer of protection designed to protect your sensitive data while browsing online (for example, financial data during online transactions or confidential corporate data).


System Requirements

Supported browsers: Internet Explorer (8.0.0.0+), Microsoft Edge (83.0.0.0+), Google Chrome (64.0.0.0+) and Firefox (24.0.0.0+).

Devices with ARM Processors

Banking & Payment Protection is only supported by Firefox and Microsoft Edge web browsers when a device with an ARM processor.


Known Issues

  • Some earlier 64-bit versions of Chrome may not be supported – we recommend a later version of the browser.
  • To ensure compatibility, the latest versions of browsers may not be supported on the initial release. If you have updated your browser to the latest version that is not supported, you can open and use the secured browser.
  • A browser started from the Windows Metro environment is not supported.
  • Windows XP x64 is not supported.

Enable the Secure Browser

  1. Open the main program window of your ESET Endpoint Security.

  2. Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup. 

  3. Click Network protection → Secure Browser. Click the toggle next to Enable Secure Browser to enable it. Click OK.

  1. A system restart is required after enabling the Secure Browser feature. Restart your system. Using Secure Browser without restarting will still protect users from potential security risks, but it will not encrypt the data from keyloggers.


Open Secure Browser

  1. Open the main program window of your ESET Endpoint Security.

  2. When enabled, click Tools and click Secure Browser to open the Secure Browser.

    Accessing Secure Browser via Remote Desktop Protocol

    A notification will be displayed in the browser window if you access the ESET Secure Browser using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).

Add, edit, or remove protected websites

  1. Open the main program window of your ESET Endpoint Security.

  2. Press the F5 key to open Advanced setup. 

  3. Click Network protection → Secure Browser. Ensure that the toggle next to Enable protected websites redirection is enabled. Click Edit next to Protected websites.

  4. Click Add. Type a website into the respective field and select the browser type it should be opened with. Click OKOK.

    You can edit or delete the websites by selecting the website and clicking Edit or Delete, respectively.

  5. In addition to the Protected websites list, websites in the ESET's internal list will be redirected to the browser secured by ESET. The websites identified by ESET are regularly updated.
